Effortless Collaboration: Google Docs Introduces Linkable Headings

Google has recently unveiled a new feature in Google Docs called “linkable headlines.” The primary goal of this addition is to improve document shareability, particularly for longer ones. With this latest feature, users can now generate links to specific headings within their documents, making it a breeze to share relevant sections with others.

To utilize this feature, users must first open a Google Doc on the web. Then, they should add a heading by typing the content and setting it as “Heading 1.” Next, right-click on the heading, and a “Copy heading link” button will appear. Click on this button to copy the link to the specific heading. Finally, users can paste the link wherever they desire to share it with others.

Furthermore, Google has taken steps to enhance file management in Google Drive. Users can now empty the entire trash folder of a shared drive, simplifying the process of handling shared drive files and eliminating the necessity for manual deletion of items in the trash folder. It’s worth mentioning that files and folders residing in the Trash are permanently removed after 30 days.

Additionally, Google has introduced a drag-and-drop functionality to Google Drive’s multi-instance support on larger Android devices with large screens. This improvement enhances the user experience and streamlines file organization on these devices, making it even more convenient to manage files.

Furthermore, Google has extended the accessibility of “people chips,” which were initially introduced in 2021 for Google Sheets, to Android and iOS devices. These intelligent chips empower users to swiftly access additional information about their colleagues or contacts, such as location, job title, and contact details.

Additionally, in a recent update, Google introduced a feature that automatically displays line numbers in Google Docs when set to page mode, and these line numbers are retained when printing the document. This addition proves beneficial for users collaborating on lengthy or complex content, as it allows for easy referencing of specific content positions within the documents.
